We got on the ship at Anchorage
Isn't Al handsome?
Glaciers
Our honeymoon dinner. There was dessert wrapped in that foil.
An iceberg full of puffins!
Glaciers were calving
Marie and Bill Kenny. We met them on the ship and stayed in touch for many years. They had visited all fifty states ending with this Alaska trip!
A tugboat that helped the ship in port.
Our salmon fishing excursion. Al caught a salmon and had it processed. That was our $400 fish! He enjoyed every bite!
Drinks with Bill and Marie.
A totem Pole "factory." It wasn't really a factory but they were making totem poles and did demonstrations and explained them.
Dolly's Place. I will never forget Dolly's. She was the riches prostitute in town.
She was the first to have a stove!
There were many many little flowers displayed all over decorating everything. Apparently Dolly had silk condoms sent over from Europe. They discovered they didn't work very well so she repurposed them into little silk flowers.
Now here is a story I will never forget...
Al and I walked through town and I had purchased several items. They were all in a large bag. We had stopped in a restaurant along the way and Al set the bag down. He didn't discover we forgot it until we were on our way back to the ship at the end of the day. The ship was due to leave. Al took off at a run and I stayed at the ships entrance waiting for him. He didn't come and didn't come...I though oh no! He is going to miss the ship! Finally he came running. I asked what took so long...he stopped to take these photos of salmon jumping and just though that was the coolest thing! LOL
Celebrating the 4th of July on board the ship.
We met Jeff and Nancy Garstick on the train. They were actually our table partners. We stayed in touch with them for several years at Christmastime. This night we were doing the ship's barhop to win a t-shirt. Yes, we all got one. We had fun with them. Nancy was a teacher too.
