Today Jeff and I hiked to the top of Diamond Head Volcano. This photo from the top of the crater you can see the tunnel that you drive through to enter the volcano's crater.
There were winding trails and tunnels on the inside of the crater that the military built after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. There were many observation stations that were built along the crater's rim.
You can see a lighthouse below in this photo. This is an active lighthouse with a keeper living there full time. Notice the lava reefs in the water along the shoreline.
The background of this photo is a view of downtown Waikiki from one of the Observation Points.
