We drove through town and came across this Historical Monument. It was the summer pal;ace of the royal family. There were many artifacts and tons of history! We couldn't take pictures inside but Al had to have a picture of his "Queen" on the veranda of the palace. Across the lawn from where I'm standing was the ocean. We were told much history and bought some books but one interesting fact is that no one could look at the King. If they did, they either had to go to a place of refuge to be cleansed for three days before they could go back or they could be killed. If they didn't go and be cleansed, their whole family would be killed and sometimes the whole town. They believed that if someone looked at the King, they could take some of his power and he was considered a God. The women and men didn't eat in the same room either!
This is a quilt that I thought was pretty...all hand stitched of course.
Al and I went for a walk-about down the shore. You can see our motel in the distance. We were sitting on a large lava rock along the shore waiting for the sunset.
The start of the sunset...
And the end of the sunset...it went behind the clouds :( Guess we'll have to try again tomorrow.
This is the landscaping of our motel. They use the lava in the landscape and the plants seem to grow right out of it!
Al is going to climb a coconut tree!!!
Just thought these flowers were pretty...
All different kinds are growing all over the place here!
Tomorrow is the Umauma Falls zipline...stay tuned!

Now I can understand why you heard the ocean surf in your hotel room. Those waves look like they come crashing against the rocks.
