This is the story behind the movie the Revenant starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge is a 2002 novel by American author Michael Punke, based on a series of events in the life of American frontiersman Hugh Glass in 1823 Missouri Territory. The word "Revenant" means someone who has risen from the grave to terrorize the living.
