Fool Hollow Lake to Mesa, AZ 11.01.23

The final leg of our journey to Mesa. We left Show Low, AZ about 8:15 am. It was a frosty night! This post has many pictures. There are so many more but I chose the best. Most of these are taken through the windows of the truck while Al drove.

We were on highway 60 all the way from Show Low to Mesa and passed through the Fort Apache Reservation.

The Salt River Canyon is inside the Fort Apache Reservation and a part of the Tonto National Forest. Just a beautiful ride but a white knuckle drive for Al! Hang on! He said many times how thankful he is to have the diesel exhaust brake on the truck to hold back the 8 tons of Mona we were pulling up and down these roads.

We pulled over in a pull off area on the mountain to take a few photos and let Al breathe a few minutes. This road is where we had been. It's like a snake wiggling back and forth and up and down all the way.

Al took this photo in that same pull off area. In the center of this photo you can see the river wiggling back and forth.

I was trying to show depth in this photo and you just can't capture it.

This is strip mining in Globe, AZ
More than 20 percent of the employment in Globe and Miami is related to mining and production of copper. Over half of Gila County's employment is in copper smelting, refining, or rod production.

This is a spoils pile that is eroding.

Top of the World on highway 60 east of Mesa.

Several of these roads downhill were at 6-7% descent. One at 9%.

We drove through a tunnel...

Superstition Mountains

And...we are in Mesa! Our address while in Arizona is:

The Resort RV Park
1101 S Ellsworth Road
PO Box 217
Mesa, AZ 85208

We found the Walmart!

Traffic gong to the Walmart...

The first sunset from our site. That is the front of our camper (Mona) and the back of our truck (Max).

We went wandering through the park. The only downside to this RV Park is that Marley isn't allowed anywhere outside the Pet area. Our site is in the pet area. We can drive him in the truck, in his stroller, in his backpack or in his bike cart...as long as he is completely contained. But...we can take him in Walmart and Best Buy and everyone thinks he is just the cutest!

Once again...a pooped pup.
