January 10th Through January 24th Hikes

January 10-24 Hikes

Levee Trail

Wolverine Pass

Hawes Trail

Boulder Trail 1

Coon Bluff Trail 2

I got behind on my posts so I combined several hikes together, enjoy!

 January 10th Levee Trail

This was a fairly easy and flat hike, this is the trail we are going to go on January 15th for a nighttime full moon hike.

We had a pretty large group today.

Lunch spot!

We had a visitor watching over us on the way out!

January 12th Wolverine Pass

We were primarily on trail #308

It was pretty brisk and windy this morning.

We had some pretty steep slopes on this 5.5 mile hike.

Me, Walter & Wayne.

This was the overlook we were on.

This was an odd looking cactus!

Lunch Spot!

Making our way back down.

January 17th Hawes Trail

This trail had varying levels of difficulty but it sure had some great views!

We had a large group today.

This is the trail leader Tom Wilkinson and his significant other Jan.

Lunch spot!

The descent in some areas was pretty hairy!

This is the entrance to an old mining cave.

The Salt River.

When we got near the bottom of this descent there was a mountain biker that took a spill on the trail.  Unfortunately he got pretty busted up, I'm definitely not doing mountain biking out here!

January 19th Boulder Trail 1

This was a tough 7.5 mile hike but well worth the effort!  In this photo you can see Weavers Needle in the far background.

We all took a much needed break!

If you look closely you can see 4 Peaks in the far background.  In the lead here are Linda Braun and her siter Lori.

This photo was actually taken at the Resort but I thought it was a perfect picture for a perfect day!

Someone planted a flag on top of a bluff, this was zoomed in quite a lot or you couldn't tell what it was.  If you look closely the bottom of the flag isn't fastened to the pole any longer, I intend to go back to fix this.  God Bless America!

Lunch spot!

I don't think this cactus liked us being there!

This was a really cool canyon.

Linda and Lori found a lookout spot!

I found a cool perch for having lunch!

From left to right Jeannie (IL) Joanne, Sherry (AZ) Linda & sister Lori (MN) Walter (Saskatchewan) me & Chet (Hartford, WI)

Tom took a 2nd photo with the bluff in the background to give some perspective of the area.

January 24th Coon Bluff Trail 2

We had over an inch of rain yesterday and it was still a bit hazy today.

Hiking the ridgeline.

This photo is zoomed in quite a bit to Fountain Springs, you can see the fountain in the center of the photo that goes off every hour on the hour.  This is actually about 20 miles away from where we are.

We came across a cardinal, they're not as common here as they are at home.

Lunch spot!

On top of the bluff - left to right Tracy & Bob (full time RVers) Sherry (AZ) Cindy (Ontario) a new lady that I didn't introduce my to, Jan, Wayne (Cindy's husband), me & Robin (Canada)

The photos are a little out of order, this is some of us emerging from the canyon.

Group photo at small cave opening.

This is another structure built over an old mine to protect the wild horses.

A challenging canyon to get back up away from the Salt River.

The Salt River.  I was hoping to spot some wild horses but no such luck.
