Travel Day...Kentucky to Arkansas

We woke up at 1:44, chatted a bit,  dozed a bit, got up finally at 4:30. We packed up,  hooked up and said goodbye and see you later to Connie and Steve.  Thank you!!! We really enjoyed this visit and plan to go back.

We promptly turned the wrong way after leaving their house and started down a dead end road.  Al got to practice his backing skills. Excellent work Al!!!  These roads are very narrow with no shoulder!

We happened upon construction that was not really happening and cones and barrels with NO warning at all in Tennessee.  The roads are so wavy and patched, we decided that they must be "Monday Roads."

Our second stop for diesel and a stretch was at Terrell Travel Center in Arkansas. Two of the pumps didn't work at all. Al had to move the entire rig over to reach a "working pump."

I went inside to the restroom. I used my sleeve to open the door, thank goodness!!! I took one step in and my olfactory nerves were blasted with the stench of human waste and my eyeballs are still burning and were offended by the disgusting sight before me. T.P. covered the floor. Not just a few pieces,  covered and piled high! The stall door was open on one of two stalls. I took one look,  still not walking all the way in the door,  and it looked like a porta-potty after a 3-day beer tent event that had never been cleaned.  So,  so bad.  I said out loud,  "Oh no! I CAN NOT DO THIS ONE!!!" I left. I tried dropping the steps on the camper to go inside and the gas pump stalls were so pitted with potholes the camper wasn't sitting straight enough to drop the steps! Garbage everywhere.

Finally,  we got fueled up and pulled over to use my own mobile restroom.  What a story that was but I've never seen a public bathroom that was so horrible!

We moved on and got to our campground on the Arkansas River.  It's a great Corps of Engineer Campground called Maumelle. Huge sites,  tons of privacy. We are going to go see what we can see tomorrow and...do some laundry.

Not much to see today.  We were traveling for 7 hours.

A cotton field.
Bails of cotton everywhere!

OMG public restroom can turn your stomach at times. Get a good night's sleep and things will be better tomorrow. Safe travels 😘
