24.06.04 Move to the Grand Canyon Railway RV Resort & My Shuttle Adventure
24.06.17 We left Williams early in the morning because there was going to be a wind advisory later in the morning. We can't tow Mona on the highway during high winds because it's too dangerous.
PURPLE HEART TRAIL
The purpose of the Purple Heart Trail is to create a
symbolic and honorary system of roads, highways, bridges, and other monuments
that give tribute to the men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart
medal. The Purple Heart Trail accomplishes this honorary goal by creating a
visual reminder to those who use the road system that others have paid a high
price for their freedom to travel and live in a free society. Signs placed at
various locations annotate those roads and highways where legislation has been
passed to designate parts of the national road system as The Purple Heart
Trail. The actual format and design of the signs vary from state to state.
There are currently designated sections in 45 states as well as Guam.
Wisconsin Purple Heart Cities: Marshfield, Richland Center,
Town of Necedah
We parked Mona at the Grand Canyon Railway RV Resort and RV Park. We checked out the Doggie Daycare in the resort because Marley would be spending some days there while we wander and explore.
We ate supper at the Grand Canyon Brewery. You know, eating out is NOT cheap! It seems no matter where we go, the bill is at least $50 plus tip. Burgers and fries, $50 bucks plus tip. Was it worth it? No. It was ok.
Just thought this was a cool old building.
We ate at Pine Country Restaurant several times during our two weeks here. Good home cooking and excellent pies. It was like the Eagle Inn. My oh my, those pies!!!
Country Fried Steak and Sweet Potato Fries...yum!
Hmmm....what do you think? Should Jessica open a restaurant?
The next day, Monday
June 3, 2024—Marley spent the day at Doggy Daycare at the Resort. We drove up
to the Canyon. Al hiked the South Kaibab Trail. I hopped on the shuttle and
road first the Orange Bus and then the Blue Bus. At one of the vistas I ran
into an elderly Asian couple who were trying to take each other’s photo. I
tried to offer to take one of both of them. They obviously didn’t speak English
and all of a sudden, the woman can over to me, put her arm around me and the
husband took our photo! Then I put out my hand and they let me take one of
them. I enjoyed my day of wandering!
And here is a short little video of my Shuttle Bus Adventure!
Now we wait for Cashton and Sherry to come for a visit!!! We are so excited and we have so much fun stuff planned! That will all be shared in the next post. We are off for a quick adventure today. See you all again soon!
